A piece of fabric can wait for years in a cupboard. Someone bought it for a dress, saved it for a special occasion, or simply loved it too much to let it go. I like finding these pieces and imagining what they could become.
Viva La Fusta brings together clothes I make and vintage pieces I find. Much of it begins at flea markets, in shops selling leftover textiles, or with something passed down by my mother, my grandmother or a friend.
My grandmother had a cotton curtain she never got around to hanging. My mother kept a Soviet-era tablecloth, still unused. A woman at a market sold me fabric she had once bought to make herself a skirt. These things became part of the clothes you see here.
In Handmade Pieces, you’ll find my skirts, dresses, vests, tops and other creations. I bring fabrics together through colour, texture and the possibilities of what is available: a small piece of ikat, a floral remnant, a ribbon kept by my grandmother. Sometimes the smallest scrap becomes the detail I love most.
Vintage Finds is for original vintage pieces I’ve chosen to be worn again. A print, a shape or an unexpected detail can be enough to make me bring something home.
I share the stories I know. Some come with a place and a person; others begin simply with a fabric that caught my eye.
There is a garden in this story, too. With each piece sold, I will plant the flower, herb, grass or shrub named in its description in the Republic of Moldova, during the appropriate planting season. I’ll share a photograph on our Instagram so you can see what grows with your piece.
